UK-wide coalition for CRC incorporation builds support

Support is steadily growing for the coalition for incorporation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) into UK law, with our newest members including Professor Geraldine Van Bueren, who helped to draft the Convention.  On 2 June, CRAE's legal director Katy Swaine will be speaking about CRC incorporation alongside Professor Van Bueren and Dragan Nastic of Unicef UK at a meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Children, which will consider the CRC from an international perspective.

The coalition, co-ordinated by CRAE, seeks the incorporation of the CRC into UK law.  We believe this would be the best way to achieve rights protection for children in all areas of their lives, regardless of their circumstances or setting.  Other new coalition members include Baroness Joan Walmsley and the National Youth Agency.  The coalition's next quarterly meeting will be held in Edinburgh in July.  Click here for more information.
