CRAE sends children’s rights impact statement to Ed Balls
CRAE’s national co-ordinator, Mike Lindsay, has written to the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families with CRAE’s Children’s rights impact assessment of The Children’s Plan One Year On: a progress report. Alongside the Government’s already widely publicised commitments to deliver world-class services for children, Mike Lindsay has called on Ed Balls to mark this year’s 20th anniversary of the United Nation’s adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child by pledging to deliver a world-class commitment to children’s rights.
CRAE believes all proposed legislation and policies affecting children
and young people should be systematically assessed by the UK Government
for their impact on children’s rights before being adopted. Until this
is made a legal requirement, we will aim to publish children’s rights
impact statements in relation to major legislative and policy
developments that affect children and young people in England.
