Do you know of children that have experienced “naming and shaming”?

The Report Right campaign, run by young activists at the Children's Rights Alliance for England (CRAE), is exploring the impact so-called "naming and shaming" in the media has on children and young people. CRAE would like to make contact, through NGOs and solicitors, with children and young people (those aged 17 and under) that have been "named and shamed" in the local or national media and who would be willing to share their experiences with our young activists.

To take part in a research interview, children and young people will need to have been featured in national newspapers, the local press, or as part of a local authority publicity campaign in relation to an anti-social behaviour order (or breach thereof). Individuals can be 18 or over if the "naming and shaming" took place when they were a child and they are willing to talk retrospectively about their experiences. CRAE is hoping to run the interviews in July and August 2009.

The views collected in the interviews will be used anonymously as part of the campaign report, which will be launched later this year. Children and young people participating in the interviews will also be able, if they wish, to join the Report Right campaign.

If you know of children and young people who might be willing to take part, please contact Sam Dimmock, CRAE's head of policy, on 020 7278 8222 extension 23 or at sdimmock@crae.org.uk.
