CRAE Briefing on Minimum Age of Criminal Responsibility

On Friday 8th September members of the House of Lords will debate a Private Members Bill (introduced by Lord Dholakia) which aims to raise the age of criminal responsibility in England and Wales to 12 years old (currently it is 10).

CRAE and Just for Kids Law have written a briefing for parliamentarians explaining why we believe that the current age of criminal responsibility in England and Wales is too low and why we think it represents a breach of the Government’s obligations to protect children's rights under international law.
