You've got the Right programme 2010 - FREE children’s rights training

Are you a child or young person under 18 with a legal problem, or wanting to know more about your rights?

Are you an adult working with children and young people in a setting that may be able to host children's rights training for children and young people?

Are you a lawyer committed to the rights of children and young people

If you answer 'Yes' to any of these, read on!

CRAE has lots of experience of delivering innovative and popular training to children and young people across England about their rights and how they can take action.  Our training sessions are hosted by local organisations working with, or offering space to, children and young people (like youth groups, children’s homes and schools) and delivered by CRAE staff.

Under the 2010 You’ve got the Right programme, we are inviting local lawyers to participate in our training sessions by talking to children and young people about when they may need advice or representation from a lawyer, and how to go about getting it.

We are offering 20 of these NEW children’s rights training sessions FREE to groups across England, focusing on children and young people who are more likely to face barriers to exercising their rights – for example, children with disabilities, those in conflict with the law, refugee and asylum seeking children, children living in poor areas and under-10s.

If you are a child or young person in England, or if you work with children and young people and your organisation may be able to host a training session, contact Krishna Maroo or download our Children’s Rights Training flyer to express your interest or find out more.

Lawyers for children's rights - we need you!

We want to improve our links across England with lawyers who are committed to acting for children and young people, so that we can more effectively signpost and refer children and young people accessing our advice service, as well as informing children and young people attending our training sessions about the legal services in their area.

We are therefore developing a national network of lawyers who are committed to upholding the rights of children and young people in a variety of contexts.  Relevant specialisms include (but are not limited to): Children law, Public law and human rights, Immigration law, Education law and Criminal law.   Lawyers who join the network will also have the opportunity to participate in a children’s rights training session in their local area (see above).  In the longer term CRAE hopes to make the legal network a publicly available resource.

If you are a lawyer in England who is committed to children's rights, please contact Sabeena Kistnah or download our Lawyers for Children's Rights flyer to find out how you can get involved.

Children and young people get involved

Children and young people will be actively engaged in the 2010 You’ve got the Right programme in a variety of roles, from project management to helping deliver training sessions.   Further information will be posted soon about how you can get involved as a child or young person.  If you would like to receive an email alert when this information is published, contact Krishna Maroo.
